It’s very rare for the Philippines to have a long weekend, with the obvious reversal of the “holiday economics” under the Noynoy Aquino administration. We are now at the start of a long weekend, from 27 to 30 August 2011. Yehey!

For sure many of us already made plans, but the weather is playing the killjoy role. It’s almost a week since PAGASA announced that a lower pressure area has developed into a tropical depression, named as “Mina” (International Name: Nanmadol). No problem then, but the typhoon is still here and has grown stronger, up to Storm Signal No. 4, the highest warning signal.

Tough luck (more so for our fellow Filipinos directly hit by Typhoon Mina). Now, what alternative long weekend plans could we have?
