The Philippines Says Thank You

Super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) — the strongest recorded typhoon to hit land and one of the strongest typhoons in history — struck and devastated the Philippines on November 8, 2013. The Filipinos’ unbreakable spirit was bolstered by the outpouring of support from the world. There have been countless of “thank you” messages expressed, but this time, the Department of Tourism (DoT) is organizing a concerted movement. “This February 8, 2014, exactly three months after the typhoon, we want to be one in expressing our gratitude.” Share the photo through social media, check out the DoT twitter account, and register here. A Prayer for the Philippines: A Touching Video for Bohol Earthquake and Yolanda Super Typhoon

The Philippines celebrates the longest Christmas season in the whole world, yet this year’s Christmas celebrations are visibly toned down. The Philippines received a[n] [un]fair share of natural calamities this year 2013. The recent earthquake with epicenter at Bohol and Typhoon Yolanda caused terrible damage and loss of lives. These unfortunate incidents showcased another Filipino trait, in addition to hospitality and love of music known around the world — resiliency. As the country and the international community unite to provide relief to the affected families, a group of musicians joined voices for this heartwarming rendition of “The Prayer”.
