Floating in Paradise: Philippine Travel Stories

Everybody knows that the Philippines is a beach paradise, home of the world’s top beaches, including Boracay, Palawan and Siargao. The Philippines has retained its ranking among the world’s best tourist destinations, notwithstanding the closure of Boracay this year (but it will reopen in October 26, woohoo!!) Not everybody knows that the Philippines is also home to wonderful waterfalls and, of course, rivers. Continue reading Floating in Paradise: Philippine Travel Stories

Sleepy in Bikini: Philippine Beach Travel Stories

Should we feature bikini photos? That’s our internal topic of debate over the entire weekend (feel free to weigh in through the comment section below). For one, a bikini is just another piece of clothing, common in a tropical country like the Philippines. Two, the Philippines has hundreds of beautiful beaches, many among the best in the world, and a bikini is a perfect wear on a sunny beach to get a good tan. Three, these Philippine travelers are comfortable with their bodies and we can’t act like prudes in this modern day. There other reasons, for or against, thrown in the ring, but the resolution is obviously to feature the bikini-inspired VisitPinas-tagged photos in Instagram. Just Keep Swimming, Freediving at Barracuda Lake (Coron, Palawan): Photo of the Day

We all know  Coron, Palawan, is an awesome travel destination. The pristine beaches, fresh seafood, nice tan, great view, underwater scenes, just some of the reasons why tourists flock into this group of paradise-islands. Then there’s freediving at the Barracuda Lake. Let’s compile some of the photos of underwater adventurers in this post. Video: Watch the Camiguin Tourism “No Words” Campaign

The beautiful island of Camiguin recently released a tourism video in time to kick off its 38th Lanzones Festival from October 22-31, 2017. We like the video. It brings back fun memories of our Camiguin visit (well, without the airplane ride; we’ll have to come back for that). According to the Camiguin Tourism Office, “Camiguin is an island in Mindanao, Philippines. Dubbed as the “Island Born of Fire”, this small and simple island never fails to amaze both its locals and tourists, leaving them “no words” to describe their experience in the place.” We strongly suggest you visit Camiguin (read Itinerary for Cagayan de Oro, Bukidnon and Camiguin). In the meantime, watch the nice video, here: Continue reading Video: Watch the Camiguin Tourism “No Words” Campaign

Happy Solitude in Guyam Island, Siargao: Photo of the Day

“Wonderfully lost and hopelessly in love,” Marian Bautista notes in her account profile (check his Instagram account, @yianbautista, for more photos). We get the “wonderfully lost” part — no dount it’s awesome to wander in the surrounding islands of Siargao, including the gorgeous white-beach tiny Guyam Island (yes, we have a separate feature on the crystal-clear waters off Guyam Island). On the second part — hopelessly in love — we’re not sure if Marian is referring to the same island (yes, people, like us, can fall hopelessly in love with the islands of the Philippines) or to some islander. We have to ask her. In the meantime, enjoy the photo (or, better still, go out and enjoy Guyam and Siargao Island). Click the photo to enlarge. The Lovely Sunset of Punta Bulata (Cauayan, Negros Occidental): Photo of the Day

“Sunsets in the Philippines will always be beautiful,” says Maanyag na Kabuhi in her photo below (the phrase, she explains, means “life is beautiful” in Hiligaynon; check her Instagram acount, @maanyagnakabuhi, for more photos). We don’t doubt that. We love sunsets and while not all sunsets are created equal, sunsets are equally beautiful across the Philippine archipelago. This poster-perfect sunset was captured in Punta Bulata Resort of Cauayan town, around 154 kilometers south of Bacolod City. We really can help but smile while looking at it. The golden sun waving goodbye, the contrast of the darkening sky, the bent coconut trees — all merge to give a sense of serenity in a tropical paradise. Beautiful! Click the photo to enlarge. The Flying Banca of Virgin Island, Cebu: Photo of the Day

There’s something strange happening in the Virgin Island, known as Sillion Island among the locals, located in the northern part of Cebu province and sandwiched between the islands of Bantayan and Daanbantayan. Boats or bancas in the Virgin Island appear to be flying on top of the white-sand beach. If you look closer, however, you’ll notice that the waters around island are simply crystal clear, giving the fun illusion that boats are flying. As noted by The Island Boy in the caption of his photo featured here, “yes, that’s a floating boat” (check his Instagram acount, @theislandboyy, for more awesome photos). Click the photo to enlarge. Island Hopping, It’s More Fun in the Philippines: Photo of the Day

With thousands of islands comprising the Philippine archipelago, travelers won’t run out of islands to hop around. This is the reason why we don’t really have to ask where these islands are, like in this photo by Nikki Marie Marquez (check her Instragram acount, @nikkimariehere, for more photos), because we can safely assume that the level of fun would still be the same. Here’s what you do: get a boat or banca, stuff it with your friends and family, and go see some islands — white sand, black sand, orange sand, you name it. It’s a great weekend fun adventure that will provide you with happy memories to last the entire week, or month, or the whole year. That’s only one of the reasons why, ladies and gentlemen, it’s more fun in the Philippines. But first, head on over to the Philippines. If you’re lucky, you’d catch the Miss Universe beauties visiting one of the islands. Have fun! Click the photo to enlarge.

Surf and Beauty in Cloud 9, Siargao: Photo of the Day

What we see of a photo depends equally on what’s important to us and to the one who took the shot. For hard-core surfers who frequent the surfing capital of the Philipppines, Siargao in Surigao del Norte, the focus might be the waves. Those who appreciate the island vibe might focus on the food and the beer, consumed right off the beach. Some might take a shot with perfect proportions. The photo featured here, snapped by Daniela (visit her instagram site, dani_negreda, for other beautiful photos), appears to focus on the clouds (hey, it’s Cloud 9 in Siargao) and, of course, the majesty of the setting (or rising?) sun. There’s so much more we see, but we prefer you tell us through the comment section, or see the place for ourselves. Click photo to enlarge.
