The Pride of Biliran, Sambawan Island: Photo of the Day

Photography and nature, Mark Alvin Marbella notes in his profile, are like food for the soul (check his Instagram account, @iammarbel, for more photos). For this particular shot, he said, “Some sunshine are just wonderful. Maybe it is hard to wake up, but sometimes the nature reward us with a wonderful show.” We couldn’t agree more. We happily spend time waiting for the sunrise or sunset, and, in the case of sunrise, we battle the urge to continue swimming in dreamland. Not that there’s much difference. Waiting for the sunrise in Sambawan Island, Biliran is probably like being immersed in dreamland. Located around 5 kilometers from the town of Maripipi in Biliran, Sambawan Island features a curved white-sand beach, and a hill that serves as the island’s spine, featuring rock formations that, together with the vegetation, give an eery feeling of being in fantasy land. Click the photo to enlarge. Selfie with the Majestic Mount Pinatubo: Photo of the Day

We’ve featured photos of Mt. Pinatubo a lot of times, but we can’t help ourselves from featuring yet another shot of this majestic volcano, courtesy of Rai Sean (check his Instagram account, @rhyjoe, for more photos) of Sanggala Mountaineers. You see, we are constantly amazed with how nature can be so cruel, yet, at the same time, undeniably beautiful. Back in 1991, after centuries of being quiet, Mount Pinatubo exploded, spewing ash that traveled halfway around the world, lowering world temperature by one degree fahrenheit, and driving the U.S. out of their bases in the area. It’s truly a wonder how something beautiful can come out of something violent. Click the photo to enlarge. Continue reading Selfie with the Majestic Mount Pinatubo: Photo of the Day

“I wish I could wake up to this view every morning,” said this aspiring photographer, Bona Fidës (check her Instagram account, @eamsfides, for more photos). Well, we also have the same wish. How can you not gush at the sight of mornings, after spending an equally magical night, at the Kapayawan Ridge in Bukidnon? Click the photo to enlarge. Stroll Among the Clouds and Trees (Mt. Ulap, Itogon, Benguet): Photo of the Day

“Create the life you can’t wait to wake up to,” says Roanne Tañagras (check her Instagram account, @zeroaaanne, for more photos). The second part — a life that one can’t wait to wake up to — is easy as daydreaming. Anyone can imagine paradise in their minds. “Creating a life,” or making it a reality, is another story. Watching the clouds framed by pine trees on rolling hills, or mountains, takes a lot of hard work. Lilke trekking to the top of Mt. Ulap, Ampucao, Itogon, Benguet. It’s not a walk in the park, so to speak, but it’s all worth it. Amazing views and fresh air. Click the photo to enlarge. Continue reading Stroll Among the Clouds and Trees (Mt. Hiking through the Rain in Mt. Binacayan (Rodriguez, Rizal): Photo of the Day

We’ve featured a favorite hiking trail close to Manila, Mt. Pamitinan, located in the nearby in Rodriguez (formerly Montalban), Rizal. We know that it’s a nice place for mountain climbing and mountain biking, as well as swimming around Wawa Dam and rock climbing on its limestone cliffs. However, we completeley forgot that Mt. Pamitinan is simply half of the story. According to folklore, a giant named Bernardo Carpio had to stand in the middle, foreover, and push two mountains apart. The colliding mountains are Mt. Pamitinan and Mt. Binacayan. fast forward to the modern times, mountaineers often attack the two mountains in one trek, spending around half day for each. Photo courtesy of Tomas sa Pilipinas, who says he goes where the wind blows but, for this photo, where the rain goes. Check his Instagram acount, @_tomdaily, for more awesome photos.
