Should we feature bikini photos? That’s our internal topic of debate over the entire weekend (feel free to weigh in through the comment section below). For one, a bikini is just another piece of clothing, common in a tropical country like the Philippines. Two, the Philippines has hundreds of beautiful beaches, many among the best in the world, and a bikini is a perfect wear on a sunny beach to get a good tan. Three, these Philippine travelers are comfortable with their bodies and we can’t act like prudes in this modern day. There other reasons, for or against, thrown in the ring, but the resolution is obviously to feature the bikini-inspired VisitPinas-tagged photos in Instagram. Boatman, noun, a person who rents out or works on boats. In the world of Philippine travel, a boatman can be anyone who has fun on a boat while exploring the archipelago’s beautiful wonders. The boatman, of course, can be male or female, or shades in between, but let’s just use boatman as a generic term. So, how fun is it to be a boatman in the Philippines? It’s not difficult to conclude, basing on her Instagram profile, that Marian Bautista (check her Instagram account, @yianbautista, for more photos) loves the outdoors. Beach, surfing, and more beach. Here she is at the white beach of Balabac, at the southernmost tip of Palawan. The town of Balabac is an island group, 36 in all, which means there’s a lot of gorgeous white-sand beaches to go see and enjoy. Remember, should you choose to visit Palawan (truly a province of wonders), remember that there are way less crowded beaches other than El Nido and Coron (both lovely places, don’t forget). Vacation in paradise. Click the photo to enlarge. Continue reading Serenity and Beauty at Balabac Beach, Palawan: Photo of the Day
There are photos that make us giddy right from the moment we see it. This is one of those photos. It’s a photo of a bird. No, wait, it’s a plane. No, it’s, uhm, a gwapito flying high (gwapito in Bisaya roughly translates to handsome boy, because full-on handsome man is gwapo, pretty much like how a plato [plate] is the bigger version of the platito [saucer]). It’s a photo of @gwapitos.official cofounder, @maramatokong, flying high at the surfing capital of the Philippines, Cloud 9 in Siargao Island (photo courtesy of @gwapitos.official, and island lifestyle brand by Gianni “Boy” Grifoni and John Mark “Marama” Tokong, based in Siargao Island, and @kermitsiargao; check their instagram profiles for more awesome photos). We’ll get to Siargao soon, and when we do, we challenge you guys to a surfing competition — the variety involving a mouse and wifi. Click the photo to enlarge.
