Lucky Turtles at Apo Island, Negros Oriental: Photo of the Day

“I got to spend the end of the year with this guy,” said charlynfaith. We’re unsure who’s luckier, the turtle dude or charlynfaith (check her Instagram acount, @peytfull, for more photos). We could say she’s lucky, with this seemingly well-timed shot with a turtle at Apo Island (Dauin, Negros Oriental). Not everyone gets the chance (although we hope you’d be able) to visit this marine sanctuary and get a wonderful photo remembrance to boot. We could say, on the other hand, that this turtle is a lucky guy (well, assuming it’s a guy), with this beautiful lady-guest gracefully diving to have a selfie (or is it a turtlefie?) taken in his peaceful underwater habitat. Perhaps we can say that we’re all lucky, living in and exploring this beautiful country called the Philippines. So, go ahead, visit the Philippines and tell the world what’s beautiful about Pinas! Have fun! Click the photo to enlarge. Continue reading Lucky Turtles at Apo Island, Negros Oriental: Photo of the Day

Best of Both Worlds at El Nido, Palawan: Photo of the Day

The natural beauty of the Philippines makes us giddy, every time — a feeling, we’re sure, is shared by other wanderers. The thought of hogging the richness of the scene all to ourselves never entered our restless brains; more of “we wish our photos can do justice to the view so others can also see how amazing the Philippines is.” This, in the first place, is the reason for the creation and existence of this blog. This is also the reason why we’ve decided to have Photos of the Day, simply because each traveler has a unique view of the country’s beauty, like this awesome shot by charlynfaith (check her Instagram account, @peytfull, for more beautiful photos). We can only imagine the utter fun of enjoying both worlds above ground and underwater, in El Nido, Palawan. Amazing. Beautifully amazing. Click the photo to enlarge. Photo of the Day: Turtle Dude

What would you do if you get punched by someone? Yes, you’ll most likely fight back or, if that person happens to be Manny Pacquiao, complain to the authorities. Now, what happens if you go snorkeling and, while in the process of enjoying the underwater scene, you get punched by — of all creatures of this world — a sea turtle? What would you do? We must admit the question made us pause for a second or two. Our kababayan, Rizza Diaz (rizzadiaz), bravely fought back by, well, taking photos and sending a lot of love to the cool turtle dude. She was in Apo Island, she said, and we had to do a little bit of sleuthing to learn that it’s the Apo Island Marine Reserve in Negros Oriental. Oh, you want proof of the sea turtle encounter? Here’s the photo (click photo to enlarge): Continue reading Photo of the Day: Turtle Dude

Twin Lagoon of Coron, Palawan

Memories have a funny way of affecting the present, we all know, which is why we’ve waited for the rainy season to write about our summer trip to Palawan. Any dour rainy season spirit would be uplifted by memories of the flickering rays of sunlight that playfully glide across the emerald green waters of the Twin Lagoon in Coron, Palawan. We could have written this post last summer, right after we’ve visited the beautiful Palawan, primarily Coron, but chose to wait for the last quarter of the year, the tail end of the rainy season.
