Why It’s Called Puting Buhangin Beach, Palawan: Photo of the Day

It’s not unusual to encounter a name that leaves not much to one’s imagination, like Puting Buhangin Beach or Isla Puting Buhangin in Brgy. Mangingisda, Puerto Princessa, Palawan (not to be confused with the Puting Buhangin Beach in Pagbilao, Quezon). You don’t really have to go far from the city, the usual jump-off point to the Puerto Princesa Underground River or Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park (which has Honday Bay, anyway), to enjoy a gorgeous beach (El Nido is around 7 hours ride from Puerto Princessa). Puting Buhangin Beach is just across Puerto Princessa Bay, around 30 minutes by banca.
