Trekking Mount Pinatubo: Philippine Travel Stories (Photo Gallery)

We did say that the Universe loves balance. Even a destructive event, like the 1991 eruption of a volcano that has remained quiet for 600 years, Mount Pinatubo, can be a source of beauty. The pyroclastic flow of Mt. Pinatubo buried many communities and the ash it spewed traveled halfway around the world, lowering world temperature by one degree fahrenheit. A Walk in the Clouds: Philippine Travel Stories

We love mountaineering photos, specially those with clouds at the summit (just to be clear, mountaineering photos, not mountaineering itself). We’ve featured a lot of these photos, yet there’s still a lot of these cloud-covered mountain summit photos that are VisitPinas-tagged. What to do? It feels like a sin not to feature these beautiful photos. Let’s have a new post just for these VisitPinas-tagged photos in Instagram. The Beach from Up There: Philippine Travel Stories

We oftentimes fail to recognize something we know to be familiar, when viewed from a different angle. Same principle in solving problems, looking at it from outside the box. The Philippines, with its numerous world-class beaches, is a good place to test if you can still identify the location when viewed from a drone. Let’s see if you recognize these drone-captured, VisitPinas-tagged photographs in Instagram: Continue reading The Beach from Up There: Philippine Travel Stories

Browsing through the VisitPinas-tagged photos in Instagram, we were provoked to ask a question that appears to be lurking under our consciousness for some time now — are we will to give up our day job and just travel year-round? It’s probably going to be boring, with travel becoming ordinary, a chore even, when done on a daily basis. We still have to resolve that issue, and feel free to tell us your opinion through the comment section below, but let’s assume we love that prospect, what are the dream jobs we’d like to have in the Philippine travel circuit? Chillin’ at Kaparkan Falls, the Nature-Engineered Spring Terraces at Tineg, Abra: Photo of the Day

North of the Philippines’ national capital region is Abra, a landlocked province surrounded by Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Apayao, and Kalinga. Here we find the relaxing natural curtains of cold spring terraces, an awesome sight to behold known as the Kaparkan Falls. Perfect for more adventurous travelers who enjoy the outdoors.

Unfortunately, we heard from Rai that September is going to be the last month it will open this year. Rai has this invitation: “We will be coming back to Kaparkan Falls of Tineg Abra on September 08-09. For those who want to join us, kindly hit me through DM! Don’t miss the chance for this one a kind adventure since it will be the last month it will open this year!” (Check his Instagram account, @rhyjoe, for more photos). Click the photo to enlarge.
