Support the 2016 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF): Go Watch

We have always wondered why, in the recent years, the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) have been dominated by movies which, in our opinion, seem to assume that Filipino moviegoers are dumb. It’s probably a chicken-or-the-egg thing, with the usual suspects saying that the Festival should respect the “taste” (panlasa) of the moviegoers, the underlying assumption being that we are too dumb to ask for movies that should pass the lowest standards of any award-giving body, such as the MMFF. Should we, moviegoers, send a message to moviemakers that we deserve better? Or should the initiative come from the moviemakers, that they should assume that we deserve better. With the MMFF decision not to include the usual movie fare from the festival, our hope is rekindled that the MMFF is trying to do something about the quality of films shown every December. We invite you to watch these movies, as a message to our moviemakers that the usual crappy movies should not see the light of projector.
