Face your Fears in Mt. Pamitinan (Rodriguez, Rizal): Photo of the Day

We all have different fears and we all have different ways of coping with those fears. We’re almost sure, however, that most people have a fear of heights. At the very least, we can speak for ourselves — we’re terrified of heights. Our palms were sweating when we watched that old Cliffhanger movie. Same thing while looking at this photo, courtesy of EA Policarpio (check his Instagram account, @edgrallan, for more photos), as he conquered Mt. Pamitinan in Rodriquez, Rizal. Good activity for those who enjoy the rough outdoors; definitely not good for us with fear of heights. Perhaps we’ll choose another fear to conquer. Click the photo to enlarge. Autumn in Buruwisan Falls (Mt. Romelo, Siniloan, Laguna): Photo of the Day

Imagine if we have autumn in the Philippines — the colors — but we only have two seasons in this tropical part of the world, the rainy season and the very rainy season (no, seriously, summer and rainy season). Going back to the wishful thinking of autumn in the Philippines, the foliage and the Buruwisan Falls (located in Mt. Romelo, not Famy, in the town of Siniloan, Laguna) would be this lovely, as captured by Ken Galicinao (check his Instagram account, @kengalicinao, for more photos). Don’t get us wrong, Buruwisan Falls is lovely as it is, although the change of colors would add a different dimension. Click the photo to enlarge.

Selfie with the Majestic Mount Pinatubo: Photo of the Day

We’ve featured photos of Mt. Pinatubo a lot of times, but we can’t help ourselves from featuring yet another shot of this majestic volcano, courtesy of Rai Sean (check his Instagram account, @rhyjoe, for more photos) of Sanggala Mountaineers. You see, we are constantly amazed with how nature can be so cruel, yet, at the same time, undeniably beautiful. Back in 1991, after centuries of being quiet, Mount Pinatubo exploded, spewing ash that traveled halfway around the world, lowering world temperature by one degree fahrenheit, and driving the U.S. out of their bases in the area. It’s truly a wonder how something beautiful can come out of something violent. Click the photo to enlarge. Continue reading Selfie with the Majestic Mount Pinatubo: Photo of the Day

Magical Mornings at Kapayawan Ridge, Bukidnon: Photo of the Day

“I wish I could wake up to this view every morning,” said this aspiring photographer, Bona Fidës (check her Instagram account, @eamsfides, for more photos). Well, we also have the same wish. How can you not gush at the sight of mornings, after spending an equally magical night, at the Kapayawan Ridge in Bukidnon? Click the photo to enlarge. Stroll Among the Clouds and Trees (Mt. Ulap, Itogon, Benguet): Photo of the Day

“Create the life you can’t wait to wake up to,” says Roanne Tañagras (check her Instagram account, @zeroaaanne, for more photos). The second part — a life that one can’t wait to wake up to — is easy as daydreaming. Anyone can imagine paradise in their minds. “Creating a life,” or making it a reality, is another story. Watching the clouds framed by pine trees on rolling hills, or mountains, takes a lot of hard work. Lilke trekking to the top of Mt. Ulap, Ampucao, Itogon, Benguet. It’s not a walk in the park, so to speak, but it’s all worth it. Amazing views and fresh air. Click the photo to enlarge. Continue reading Stroll Among the Clouds and Trees (Mt. Photo of the Day: Mystery in Buruwisan Falls

Nope, there’s really no mystery. Or maybe there is. Exciting tales of mystery usally surround hidden nooks and crannies of the Philippines. But we wouldn’t know for sure because we haven’t been to Buruwisan Falls, tucked safely somewhere in Mt. Romelo (Siniloan, Laguna). Perhaps we can ask the one who took this photo, Rowie Pagcaliwagan (check his Instagram account, @rowiepoly), who wants to go travel with nothing but his backpack and camera. Sounds fun, although the last time we’ve heard something like that, Rose (Kate Winslet) was telling Jack (Leonardo diCarprio) to paint her wearing her necklace, and nothing but the necklace. We all know that she meant that literally. We don’t know if Rowie meant the backpack-and-camera bit in the same way. Back to the photo, the perspective of this shot instroduces a certain sense of mystery to the usual frontal photo of Buruwisan Falls. It’s like the photographer is trapped in some invisible wall, with the pillars of waterdrops serving as prison bars. And the mystery deepens.
