Photo of the Day: Sardine Run

We remember a movie called “Chicken Run.” It’s a movie about, well, a bunch of chickens. Just recently, on the other hand, we came across a photo of Mary Tariman (miri020988) which she says involves a “sardine run.” It’s a photo of, well, sardines. And Mary trying to run, er, swim after them. Sardines, of course, swim. They don’t really run. Whoever coined the term “sardine run” must have a healthy sense of humor. Or maybe because the billions of sardines involved in a sardine run, associated with the migration of sardines in southern Africa, look like a huge mass of something running when viewed up in the air. We’re not really sure. We’re sure, however, that Mary was freediving in Moalboal (Cebu) when she had her version of running, er, swimming after a school of sardines (but only after taking a selfie). Love it! Here’s the cool photo (click to enlarge): Continue reading Photo of the Day: Sardine Run

Photo of the Day: Photobomber of the Century

We don’t know if the concept of a photobomber is relatively new. Heck, we’re not even sure if it’s spelled as one word (photobomber) or two words (photobomb-er; kidding, photo bomber), so let’s just agree to use photobomber. From time to time, we see our friends complain in social media about a photobomber in a photo or two (it’s likely that you have been a “victim” of a photobomber). We recently came across a happy “victim” (the lovely Feiqueen Gunsatao, feiqueen89) of an unlikely photobomber — a fish, a not-so-shy Boracay fish. Here, check her cool photo: Continue reading Photo of the Day: Photobomber of the Century

Top 6 Favorite Fishes at The Reef (Oceanarium), Manila Ocean Park

The Manila Ocean Park, one of our favorite theme parks in the Philippines, is conveniently located in the heart of Manila City. The Manila Ocean Park is divided into different sections, one of which is the impressive Oceanarium, which in turn is subdivided into huge sections: Agos (Flow), Bahura (The Reef), Laot (Fishing Ground), Buhay na Karagatan (Living Ocean), Kalaliman (The Deep), Pagi (Sting Ray) and Pating (Shark). The only sane way to present the Manila Ocean Park is to take small bites, starting with The Reef. So, while you’re researching whether the plural of “fish” is indeed “fishes,” we’ll proceed to list down our 6 Favorite Fishes at Manila Ocean Park‘s The Reef.  Continue reading Top 6 Favorite Fishes at The Reef (Oceanarium), Manila Ocean Park
