Red Lava Rock Taal by @doyounoemi

Photo of the Day: Red is the New Black

Yep, the shoes are white, not red. The rocks are red, though. And it’s the new black. Travel, we mean, is the new black. It’s gaining momentum nowadays — airfare is getting more affordable, people have more appetite for exploration, instagram/facebook is boring without awesome travel photos. Many travelers, however, wander and explore to cleanse the mind and inspire the soul. Some sights are simply breathtaking. Take, for instance, this photo of the red lava rock in Taal Volcano‘s crater, photo courtesy of Noemi Ruth Hernandez (check her Instagram account, @doyounoemi, for more photos). Saying “Taal Volcano” is quite tricky because you can also say “Taal Lake” or “Taal Volcano within a lake within a volcano” and still be correct. It’s an active volcano. Yep, an ACTIVE volcano, which means it is, uhm, not dormant. It can explode, yes, something which is probably not in the minds of those dining in bulalo at Leslie’s or lounging at Balai Isabel. It’s probably the least of Noemi‘s concern when she took this nice photo. Explorers are crazy, you know, which is actually a good thing. Click the photo to enlarge:
