Philippines: Destination to Watch in 2013

For our very first post of the new year, 2013, we take pleasure in highlighting the news that the Philippines is still considered a top tourist destination in 2013.

No, it’s not the Cebu Lechon, although we bet you’ve come close to heart attack gorging on this culinary favorite (counting Anthony Bourdain). We’re talking about sun, sand, beach and all other things why it’s more fun here.

To recall, we’ve noted that Boracay Island is perennially voted as one of the world’s top beaches. This time, the core of Conde Nast Traveller’s designation of the Philippines as a Destination to Watch in 2013, while still anchored on its more than 7,100 islands, is largely centered on Palawan (including Ariara Resort). Conde Nast says:

For travellers willing to go the extra thousand miles for a deserted beach, the Philippines has around 7,000 of the most heavenly islands in the world. It’s still not the most obvious beach-holiday destination, but it soon will be.

So, there you have it! Another reason why it’s more fun in the Philippines. [See also New York Times' 46 Places to Go in 2013.]
