The location of Microtel Inns & Suites (Sto. Tomas, Batangas) makes sense if we consider that it’s inside an economic zone, the First Philippine Industrial Park, which naturally holds foreign-owned locators (various economic zones scattered throughout the Philippines, under the Philippine Economic Zone Authority or PEZA, offer tax breaks and other incentives to encourage foreign investors).
If you don’t know that this hotel exists in this area, you won’t probably notice this. I always pass through the national highway in front of the FPIP, oblivious of the Microtel that’s located around 20 meters from the main entrance of the economic zone. I thought my friend was pulling my leg when he suggested this for an office planning session.
It’s been more than a year since we’ve visited Microtel Inns & Suites and it still amazes me to this day that there’s one in Sto. Tomas, Batangas. This is a clean, crisp hotel, with the right kind of facilities for personal or business needs. The rooms and facilities are relatively new. This is a hotel with no frills; nothing fancy. It’s obviously not a leisure or theme hotel, but it serves its purpose
The rooms come in the usual single, double, and suite variants (with non-smoking rooms and handicapped accessible rooms). The amenities include: meeting room for 50 persons, swimming pool, wireless internet access at the lobby and all rooms, internet kiosk, 24-hour vending area, free flowing coffee in the lobby, safety deposit box available at the front desk, photocopy, fax and mailing services.
But hey, I sound like I’m hawking the place. Just check the website for more details, as well as the contact details.
The bonus? Really, really courteous service. We ordered food and because we were not there when the delivery arrived, they advanced the expense for us (they didn’t swipe our credit card or asked for deposit when we checked in; then again, maybe our friend has an established line here). There’s only one way to find out.
