HI, Fred,
Buenos dias desde Espana!
Malacanang of the north....hmmmm. what can be done to make it profitable? Well, in Spain, this edifice would, by now, be a converted "Parador"---a state-owned rural inn set amidst lush greenery , cool hills and mountains, thrown into it rustic fireplace where lamb, game, beef are cooked and where tired motorists stop for drinks and R n R. Indeed, "Paradores"--typical inns up and down Spain are a must for any tourist wishing to go off the beaten track. Malacanang in Ilocos can be made that way too. This is the only way to stop it from rotting. Let's bring in our talented designers, engineers, architects and local officials to convert this elephant into a money-spinning venture without having to change the appearance of the building itself. Let's make it as rustic as possible, but with all the modern conveniences of proper flush toilets, wash basins and the like. They should send a number of people to Spain so they can see what a genuine "Parador" is. Believe me, once you get hooked, you'll never want to leave the place again, until the next "Parador" beckons. Mabuhay!
